Here’s some music, new and old, you should listen to and check out:

Devendra Banhart - Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon

Banhart’s 2007 album is his folk melodic strangeness at his best. My favorite? “Rosa.”

Wojciech Kilar & Antoni Wit - Bram Stoker’s Dracula / Death and the Maiden / King of the Last Days

Kilar’s music is something from a dream, a kind of eerie dream. This compilation of the music he composed for soundtracks is outstanding. My favorite is, of course, all of the Dracula songs.

Nina Simone - Little Girl Blue

Simone’s 1958 album is transformative, like everything Simone created. My favorite: “I Love You Porgy.”
