DS Maolalai: August 2019 Poet of the Month
The new place.
it's a lot like wearing
someone else's
jacket. I put up
a couple of pictures.
move the chairs
to new positions
and restock the fridge. my clothes
grow more comfortable
on the floor.
I figure out
the shower
and the heating. figure out
where the shops
and bars are. I get a radio
and coathangers - get something
eventually
to clean
the strange stains. like a homesteader
I cut back branches
kill wolves
and turn woods
into meadow. get used
to the three am sounds.
slowly
it takes its shape
around me.
