Puffs Over

The building falls,

I fall asleep.

You wouldn’t believe

the things I’ve done

with legal tender,

but I’ll tell you anyway.

No, I don’t own a bath mat.

The building falls,

white cloud of debris.

A white car speeding slowly

in the foreground.

It’s like using a rock

to get out of a hard place, he said.

Which isn’t relative to this,

in fact, it’s entirely different.

Will Stanier lives in Tucson, where he's an MFA candidate in poetry at the University of Arizona. Before Tucson, he lived in Athens, Georgia, where he co-hosted the reading series Dude, Where’s My Poetry? His chapbook, Fakie, is out byInvalid Press.
