Music Friyay: Yael Naim, Yo La Tengo, David Byrne
By Joanna C. Valente
Here’s some music, new and old, you should listen to and check out:
Yael Naim - nightsongs
Naim just released a new album - and her soft, tender, dreamlike songs are exactly what I need right now. The album starts off with “Daddy,” which entrances us into this underwater castle, as if castles can be soundscapes.
Yo La Tengo - We Have Amnesia Sometimes
The band released a new album this year, and it’s a meandering and yet cinematic work. I find myself working to it often.
David Byrne - Grown Backwards
I could listen to Byrne’s 2004 album on repeat for a long, long time. It seems to have achieved a new meaning for me in these strange days.
