Max Lemuz: No Answer
Barbie, Left on the Front Porch Overnight
El Niño came last
night, knotted hair
flattened out, covered
with a wreath
of tan brown leaves.
Say to her, it’ll
be okay,
come inside, and like bells,
dry off with
vibrations,
songs of hopscotch
and tethered planes
giving off only love
lost by
the hair dryer.
Doorbells ring
with no answer,
neighbors too busy
because they haven’t
been outside
since
Friday.
