On Our Radar: Blue Print Review
Blue Print Review offers much more than just the average literary magazine; it offers not only an array of writing, but images that correspond with the text. Each issue has a specific theme that brings together the various pieces in such a way it changes and adds to the perception and interpretation of each work. One of the more interesting and innovative qualities of the website is the way in which the pieces go up: the pieces go up in a period of about a week. This tactic is wonderful, as it not only keeps the reader coming back to the website, but it creates a sense of suspense, as well as a sense of movement and fludity.
Just from looking at the four concepts of the magazine, any viewer can see that the magazine is unconventional, in that the fourth rule is: “all rules can be broken.” It is refreshing to see the magazine is much more concerned with content, rather than a deadline. The editor, Dorothee Lang, is organized and warm. From the correspondence I’ve personally had with her, she is nothing but helpful and passionate about what she does.
Blue Print Review’s current issue (Issue 24) is now being featured: http://www.blueprintreview.de/index.html
My own piece, Intentions, is also being featured in the issue: http://www.blueprintreview.de/24intentions.htm
